Exploring the Volcanic Landscape:

variable dimensions.

This project explores the volcanic landscape by analyzing its materials and investigating their physical possibilities. My research aims to examine the connection between the land and the creation of ceramic artworks, focusing specifically on the role of nature in the ceramic production process and its implications for our relationship with the environment. Ultimately, I seek to explore how the sense of belonging is a practice deeply intertwined with our connection to the land. The materials featured in this project are sourced from three volcanic regions: Ecuador, Iceland, and the Canary Islands. By engaging with materials such as volcanic ash and clay, I aim to establish connections between them and explore the landscape through comparative analysis. Currently in its early stages, the project prioritizes ceramic processes as a means of producing situated and embodied knowledge. The research aims to demonstrate how ceramic practices, particularly when using local, wild materials, can foster a deeper sense of belonging. It investigates diverse ways of tangibly observing the landscape and developing methods that incorporate the agency of nature in the creation of artwork.
